Raiders will talk to Leslie Frazier about being their head coach.
The Raiders are yet to interview for the job of head coach, but they are planning to do so soon. Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network says that Las Vegas will talk to Leslie Frazier on Tuesday.
When Frazier was head coach for the Minnesota Vikings, they went 21-32-1 and 0-1 in the playoffs. That’s what gave him the most fame. He has also been in charge of defense in Cincinnati, Buffalo, Tampa Bay, and Minnesota.
The Raiders fired Josh McDaniels during the 2023 season. Many consider Antonio Pierce, who served as the temporary head coach for the remainder of the 2023 season, a strong candidate to assume the position permanently.
It is also thought that the Raiders are interested in Jim Harbaugh, but there is no news that they have set up an interview with him.
NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero says that the Raiders are going to talk to ex-Bills DC Leslie Frazier about becoming their head coach. Last week, Frazier had an interview to be the head coach of the Chargers.
Jim Harbaugh and Antonio Pierce have dominated the news, but Mike Vrabel has also garnered attention recently. But in the next few days, we will add more names to the list.
Frazier started his work as an NFL coach with the Eagles in 1999 as their defensive backs coach.
He is now 64 years old. Before becoming the Vikings’ defensive coordinator in 2007, he played for the Bengals and the Colts for short periods.
Frazier made his way up to become head coach. After three years on the job, he was fired following the 2013 season. He has worked alongside the Buccaneers, the Ravens, and the Bills since then.
After the 2022 season, he quit his job as defensive coordinator for Buffalo. As head coach of the Vikings, Frazier guided them to a 21-32-1 record, good for 39.8 percent. They even made it to the playoffs once.
This is the Raiders’ first press conference. Several news sources say that temporary head coach Antonio Pierce is the favorite to get the job, which is interesting.
Furthermore, a Raiders Pro Bowl player has reportedly stated that he will request a trade if Pierce is not awarded the full-time job.
When it comes to Frazier, this is the second audition that the experienced coach has had this cycle. He finished an interview for the Los Angeles Chargers early Sunday morning.
From 2010 to 2013, Frazier, who is 64 years old, was the head coach of the Vikings and had a record of 21-32-1. Even though that didn’t go so well for him, he has a lot of experience as an NFL defense coordinator.
The Raiders are going to have their first interview with a head coach. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported on Sunday night that Leslie Frazier, the former coach of the Vikings, will meet with Las Vegas officials on Tuesday to talk about the open coaching job.
As soon as the Raiders get a chance, they will talk to him about becoming their regular head coach. They fired Josh McDaniels throughout the season and put Antonio Pierce in charge temporarily.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter says Pierce is still the most likely choice to take over the post-full-time because the players in the Rebels locker room want him to.
That being said, Pierce has interviewed for the open head coaching role in Tennessee, and the Titans and Pierce will meet on Saturday.
The Falcons additionally asked for permission to talk to Pierce about becoming their head coach.
It was 21-32-1 when Frazier was head coach of the Minnesota Vikings. The only playoff game he led them in was a loss. Frazier also recently had an interview for the job of head coach with the Chargers.
Michigan coach James Harbaugh, who is at the top of the list of teams, has also garnered interest from Las Vegas. However, the Raiders have not planned any talks with the College Football Playoff winner’s coach.
