Rafael Amargo will enter provisional prison this Friday due to flight risk

The Provincial Court of Madrid has ordered the bailaor’s imprisonment Rafael Amargo for breach of precautionary measures and risk of flight in relation to the trial that will be held next April for alleged drug sales in his previous apartment in the Malasaña neighborhood of the capital.

As legal sources have informed Europa Press, the artist would currently be in the dungeons of this judicial headquarters waiting to be taken to the Soto del Real prison.

The admission order was agreed yesterday after a prison hearing in Section 30 was held between the parties as a result of Amargo’s breach of the precautionary measure that he had to sign in the court closest to his home. Apparently, the bailaor had requested to sign at the Provincial Court of Madrid but he did not do so on several occasions, which led to this hearing being held.

At the hearing, the representative of the Madrid Prosecutor’s Office requested his imprisonment for breach of precautionary measure and risk of flight until the trial for this case is held.

Amargo will be tried in April along with his theater producer and a partner for the alleged sale of narcotics in the Malasaña neighborhood, facts for which the prosecutor requests a sentence of 9 years in prison for an alleged crime against public health.

Another case for alleged drug trafficking

The artist is also being investigated by the Investigative Judge number 27 of Madrid for a crime of drug trafficking and attack on authority, following a complaint filed last July by his neighbors in relation to the alleged sale of drugs in his apartment. Espiritu Santo Street in the capital.

Due to these events, he was arrested last March in Alicante, and was provisionally released. The judge imposed on him the obligation to appear in court every two weeks and prohibited him from leaving the country. Amargo was arrested on December 1, 2020 along with his partner and two other people within the framework of ‘operation Codax’, whose name means crow in Latin and is nicknamed after an image of Amargo on his Instagram in which he appears with some wings of this species of bird.

After testifying, those arrested were released with precautionary measures such as the withdrawal of their passport, the prohibition of leaving the national territory and the obligation to go to court every fifteen days.

In his indictment, the prosecutor requests the same sentence for Juan Eduardo SB., Amargo’s production assistant, by allegedly acting “jointly” with the other defendant in the purchase and subsequent distribution of said substances.

In his story, the prosecutor relates that, during the months of April and December 2020, both “were dedicated in a concerted and persistent manner to the distribution of narcotic substances, among others methamphetamine, to third parties in exchange for money.”

Sale to third parties

To this end, the two defendants acquired the substance “jointly” from the different suppliers, to later distribute it between them and sell it to third parties.

Thus, the dancer supposedly sold the narcotic substances to people who came to his home in Madrid and in other cases “he sent the substance to the place where the client indicated, for which he used his trusted man, the also accused Manuel Ángel BL “, another of Amargo’s partners, knowing what he was carrying, after making the corresponding delivery, returned to the home to give him the money obtained from the sale.”

By an order issued on December 1, 2020 by the Court of Instruction number 48 of Madrid, the entry and search of the homes of the accused was authorized.

In the case of the dancer, the agents seized 3 bottles containing Popper substance (alkyl nitrites), a bag containing a substance that turned out to be phenylethylamine with a net weight of 0.089 grams and a bottle containing 6 milliliters of GBL with a market value of 314.19 euros when sold per gram.

In the case of Juan Eduardo, the agents found a bottle containing a substance that turned out to be methamphetamine, with a net weight of 4,466 grams and a purity of 76.4%, with a market value of 115.67 euros when sold per gram; a bag containing a substance that tested positive for ketamine, with 50.4% purity; and MDMA with a purity of 6.9% with a total net weight of 0.185 grams with a market value of 18.5 euros when sold per gram.
