Racing reigns in Tenerife and is in direct promotion

MADRID, 6 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Racing de Santander, with a solitary goal from Arana, beat CD Tenerife, bottom of the division, at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López in the first match of the fourth round of LaLiga Hypermotion, a result that allows them to sleep in second position in the table.

Before the first quarter of an hour, Frenchman Jérémy Mellot received a through ball and, after entering the area, he passed it to Maikel Mesa, who scored easily. However, the referee ruled the goal out after determining that the French defender was offside when he got hold of the ball.

The visiting team Saúl responded just a few minutes later with a cross shot that was saved by Salvi Carrasco, and Jokin Ezkieta responded by repelling a shot from Waldo. However, the score remained unchanged at the break.

After the break, Juan Carlos Arana tried to surprise with a volley that went wide. Three minutes later, the Gran Canarian striker did not fail in a one-on-one with the Tenerife goalkeeper after receiving a great pass from Andrés Martín. The Cantabrian team still had to suffer in the final minutes after Saúl, in the 84th minute, received his second yellow card and left his team with one less player.

Racing, which has won its second consecutive game, is now second – in the direct promotion spot – with eight points, one behind leaders Huesca. Tenerife, meanwhile, is bottom of the table after having only managed one point in this league start.
