Racing played and won 0-1 as a visitor in last Wednesday’s match at the Municipal Riazor. Deportivo arrived with the spirit of returning to winning ways after suffering a 1-0 loss in the previous match against SD Logroñés. For its part, Racing de Santander achieved a goalless draw against Badajoz, adding a point in the last game played in the competition. With this result, the local team was the leader of the First RFEF, while Racing was in second place at the end of the match.
The match got off to a positive start for Racing de Santander, who opened the match with a goal from Sainz-Maza in the 34th minute. With this 0-1, the first half of the match concluded.
Neither team managed to score in the second half, so the match ended 0-1.
Both coaches made moves on the benches. Borja Jiménez’s Deportivo lead the tournament with 46 points, in direct promotion to the Second Division, while the team led by Guillermo Fernández was in second place with 41 points, in playoff position for promotion to the Second Division.
The teams will continue to play their next matches in the First RFEF: Deportivo will try to return to winning ways in their next duel against Calahorra at home, while Racing de Santander will play away from home against Unionistas.
