Quim Salarich signs his second podium of the season in the Slalom European Cup

MADRID, 22 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish skier Joaquim Salarich signed a podium on Tuesday in the slalom of the European Cup event held at the Swedish resort of Almaasa where he finished in third position to show his progress.

The Catalan returned to compete after the bitter taste of not having been able to finish the slalom at the Beijing Winter Olympics and made a great first descent in the most technical discipline of alpine skiing that led him to be the best time with 46.59.

Salarich only had four and seven hundredths over his two main rivals, the Swiss Noel von Gruenigen and the German Anton Tremmel, and could not contain the former in the second round, who took the victory, while the also Swiss Fadri Jauntin displaced him finally to third position, the same one he had achieved in January in Vaujany (France).

Now, the Spaniard, who is eighth overall in the European Cup slalom, will focus on transferring his current level to the World Cup, where he will participate next weekend in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Germany) events in looking to repeat the ‘Top 15’ that he has already achieved this season in Val d’Isere (France) and Madonna di Campiglio (Italy).
