Doña Sofía has changed Palma de Mallorca for Granada for a few hours since her schedule required her in the town of Motril. The reason? The tribute in memory of King Baudouin of Belgium 30 years after his death. The queen has accompanied Felipe of Belgium to the tribute of his father, which she has attended together with her daughter Eleanor.
The event began at 8:00 p.m. and was held in the gardens of the Villa Astrida Residence. A very significant place for the Belgian royal family since it was there that Baudouin and Queen Fabiola enjoyed their summers for three decades. And it is precisely in this Villa where a museum has been inaugurated in his honor where visitors will be able to learn about aspects of the monarch’s life through objects and personal memories.
Queen Sofia has wrapped the current Belgian sovereign throughout the day in which they have made a floral offering at the statue of King Baudouin. After this, they have accessed the interior of the museum, an initiative of the INEIS Foundation, with the aim that the figure of the Belgian kings “remains alive in the city of Motril”.
