Queen Sofia mourns the death of her uncle at sea and close to Felipe VI

Queen Sofia reappeared this Saturday in Palma de Mallorca to offer her support to Felipe VI on the last day of the Copa del Rey MapfreDespite going through a difficult time after the loss of her second uncle, Prince Michael of Greece, Felipe VI’s wife has decided to be present at this sporting event, which is so important for her son and the Royal Family.

The emeritus has arrived at the Real Club Náutico de Palma and has boarded a boat to closely follow the latest tests in which the AIFOS, the boat of Queen Letizia’s husband, was competing. Her presence was especially significant, since she had not been seen in this place for years.

With Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia in an undisclosed location in Palma de Mallorca and the Asturian consort fulfilling her duties at the Paris Olympics, Queen Sofia has become Felipe VI’s main support during the competition. Dressed in an elegant electric blue blouse and matching white trousers, she appeared radiant and lively, supporting her son and answering phone calls.

Queen Sofia attended the funeral of her uncle Miguel last Thursday, August 1, who died last Sunday, August 28 at the age of 84. Along with Felipe VI’s mother in Athens was her sister Irene, from whom she has not left her side for a moment. We saw them visibly affected and sad at this last farewell to Prince Michael of Greece. At the funeral mass in his memory, Queen Sofia’s family members were present, among whom were Pablo and his wife, Marie-Chantal Miller.
