Qatar presents its offer for Manchester United

MADRID, 17 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of one of the largest banks in Qatar, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, formally presented the purchase proposal of Manchester United to the Glazer family on Friday.

Al Thani, son of the former Emir and Prime Minister of the country and president of the QIB, intends to buy the English club through his foundation and made the proposal official a few hours before the end of the term.

“The offer plans to return the club to its former glories,” the Qatari consortium said. The Glazer family, which bought the Premier League club in 2005, entered the United sale process to “explore strategic alternatives.”

“The offering will be completely debt free through Sheikh Jassim’s Nine Two Foundation, which will seek to invest in the football teams, training center, stadium and broader infrastructure, fan experience and communities that support the club”, adds the Qatari proposal.

This is the second offer to be made public, after businessman Sir Jim Ratcliffe expressed interest last month.
