With 38 years and 46 titles that make him the footballer with the most trophies in history, Dani Alves is without a team. Two weeks ago he rescinded his contract with Sao Paulo, with which he had a contract until 2022. The reason is economic: the player left the club because he owed him three million euros. However, although he is now a free player, he did receive offers, although he chose not to accept any. But there was a team that was close to taking over his services: Athletico Paranaense.
Alves explained that Athletico Paranaense was the club he liked the most of all those who tried to sign him. “I received many offers, in Brazil, if I had to be next to someone, I would choose Petraglia, president of Athletico Paranaense. It is a huge source of knowledge, of how to do things, of not participating in the system, of believing in what it does. The guy explains things to you and you are passionate about him ”, he acknowledged in the Flow Sport podcast.
Despite all these arguments that brought him closer to signing for the club, he rejected the offer. “I thought about it, but decided to take some time to reflect, to sneak the ideas into place”, the Brazilian explained.
“It's not about money, it's about values”
After terminating the contract with Sao Paulo and not signing for any club, Alves posted on Instagram the reasons for his decision. “It's not about money, it's about values, it's about manliness, it's about character, it's about legacy”, explained the Brazilian, who also took the opportunity to announce that he will play again.
