PSG activate Dembélé’s termination clause for 50 million

BARCELONA, 1 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Paris Saint-Germain has activated the termination clause of the FC Barcelona player Ousmane Dembélé for 50 million euros, a figure that was valid until July 31, through a formal letter to LaLiga announcing the willingness of the player and the Parisian club to do so. effective, now leaving a period of 5 days for it.

As published by L’Équipe, PSG has made clear its intention to break Ousmane Dembélé’s contract for 50 million euros, and not for the 100 million euro clause in force since August 1.

This process of sending LaLiga a formal letter to make clear the willingness to pay the 50 million clause (sent within the deadline), would now leave the Parisian club five days to finalize the file and make said payment effective.

However, these days a negotiation would be carried out with FC Barcelona to reach an agreement outside the framework of the termination clause, with a figure greater than those 50 million but that could be paid in installments by the Parisian club, and not suddenly.

And it is that this letter opens, according to PSG, a period of 5 days to finalize the procedures with the player and pay the amount owed, as was the case for example in 2017 when Neymar arrived for 222 million euros, also from Barça and by payment of the clause.

The activation letter of the clause, sent on Monday, July 31, gives PSG room to negotiate with FC Barcelona and, in the event of a refusal, pay those 50 million euros. Unless legality, if that letter is not valid, forces the Parisian club to have to pay 100 million to take the Parc des Princes to the extreme of 26 years.
