Leonor returns to Girona on July 5 and the prizes that bear his name also return to his land. The last time they were delivered on this stage was in 2018, five years ago and it was the Kings who presided over the ceremony. Since then, due to the lack of cooperation with the Girona authorities and the pro-independence political environment, the awards have been moved to Barcelona. Except in 2020, which were suspended due to the strict restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
For the heiress, it will be the first time that she has delivered these distinctions in the land that bears her name. In fact, she made her official debut on Girona lands last year. She went on a cultural visit to the Dalí Museum, in Figueres. She went without her parents, Felipe VI y Joy, and was accompanied by her sister, Sofía (photo below). In the last edition, the event was held at the Museo de les Aigües Agbar in Cornellá del Llobregat (Barcelona).
The award ceremony will take place next Wednesday, July 5, at the Hotel Camiral in Caldes de Malavella (Girona), as announced by the Princess of Girona FPdGi Foundation. The winners are five young talents: the violinist Maria Duenas; the Open Cosmos engineer, Rafael Jorda; the professor at yale, Marc Schneeberger, doctor in Biomedicine; the founder of the Palliative Art Foundation, Silvia Fernández and the co-founder of Kidogo child care, Sabrina Habib.
