Prince William to his father, Carlos III: “Dad, we are very proud of you”

William’s speech at the coronation of King Charles makes the front pages of British newspapers. The prince went up to the stage of the tribute concert to the monarch this Sunday and remembered his grandmother, Elizabeth II in an event chaired by the sovereign and his wife and which brought together singers like Katy Perry and old glories like Lionel Richie or Take That

The concert at Windsor Castle has put the icing on the cake for the coronation of Carlos III and Camilla. In addition to the aforementioned singers, videos of actors such as Tom Cruise or Pierce Brosnan were broadcast.

Organized by the BBC, with a stage in the shape of the Union Jack (the flag of the United Kingdom), the concert was presided over in the presidential box by King Charles III and King Camila, accompanied by the heir to the Crown, Prince William and his family, and other members of royalty. Guillermo gave a brief speech in which he thanked his father for “his 50 years of service.”

“Dad, we are all so proud of you,” the Prince of Wales said, as cameras showed the monarch alongside Queen Camilla, as well as William’s wife Catherine and their eldest children George and Charlotte. “My father has always understood that people of all faiths, all backgrounds and all communities deserve to be celebrated and supported,” said the heir.

He also remembered his grandmother, repeating what Queen Elizabeth II said: “A coronation is a declaration of our hopes for the future,” he said. “I know she’s up there, watching us, and she would be a very proud mother right now.” Guillermo expressed his “pride and gratitude” to the millions of people who serve both in the Armed Forces and “in classrooms, hospitals and local communities.”

The acts of the coronation end this Monday, when thousands of Britons are called to carry out a day of volunteering in what has been baptized as The Great Help.
