The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) announced on Tuesday that it has renewed its current coach Fernando Santos, who led the team in his victory in the Eurocup four seasons ago, until the year 2024. Santos has been at the forefront of the Portugal team for six years and has become the coach who has won the most matches with “the fifths”. Ahead will have the postponed Euro Cup 2020, the qualification phase for the II League of Nations, qualification for the Qatar 2022 World Cup or the 2024 Euro.
Portugal is the last European champion after winning the 2016 Eurocup in France and was the first winner of the League of Nations, played last year. FPF President Fernando Gomes said Tuesday that Santos is “a respected person and, above all, a winner.” For his part, the coach assured that “it is a privilege to serve Portugal and Portuguese football.”
