Porto ends its streak and postpones the alirón (1-0)

The Porto fell today defeated by 1-0 at home of Sporting de Bragawhich put an end to his streak of 58 consecutive games without losing, the longest in the entire history of the Primeira Liga, and postponed the alirón, with three days to go to be champion.

The “dragons” needed this Monday to reap a better result than the Sporting de Portugalwho play tonight, but with the defeat -the first in the League since October 2020- they no longer have the chance of being mathematically champions on this 31st matchday.

Ricardo Hortawho had already warned in the first half with a shot to the crossbar, put the locals ahead in the 54th minute by finishing off a cross that the Spanish Abel Ruiz put in from the right.

The Porto was unable to come back and is now 9 points ahead of Sporting, which could be reduced to six if the “lions” win at the Boavista stadium.

For its part, Braga remains fourth, nine points behind third place, held by Benfica.

The “dragons” will try again to certify their 30th league title next Saturday at home against a more affordable rival, Vizela.
