BARCELONA, 28 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly (Alpine F1 Team) assured that with his arrival at the French team, after several years in the structure of Red Bull and AlphaTauri, he hopes to take “a step forward” in his career in the ‘Great Circus’.
“I hope to take a step forward in my sports career. My main objective is to adapt as quickly as possible to the new team and the new car to be able to give my one hundred percent,” said the French driver.
Gasly made these statements after an event with Hawkers, the firm with which the pilot launched his third collection of sunglasses made up of four limited edition models, which will be on sale on the brand’s official website.
After five years under the umbrella of Red Bull, the Frenchman, who is in his best professional moment, left AlphaTauri to sign for Alpine, where he will occupy the steering wheel left behind by Fernando Alonso, now at Aston Martin.
“It’s a totally new project for me, different feelings, new team, new people. I need to spend more time with the team and try to understand how they work. Physically and mentally I feel the same as before, all I need is more time with them and know their methods in depth,” he acknowledged.
As for how the negotiation of the transfer to Alpine went, he recalled an anecdote. “One day, theoretically it was already closed and then it was delayed. It was like a downer. In the end we found a solution that was a ‘win-win’ for everyone, both for Red Bull and for me, and I remember being very happy and “Motivated with the new challenge. In short, very proud to have signed with Alpine. I was in Milan when it finally closed and I just celebrated,” he said.
“I love the expectations I have for the team but also for myself and my ambitions in Formula 1, and I want to share it with them,” he said about the ambition he himself has and the one he notices at Alpine.
As for the car, he believes that in principle it is “really good”. “We did the first lap in the ‘shakedown’ at Silverstone, and in Bahrain we also tried to do as many laps as we could. It’s still early to talk about performance but for now the car is good. We’ll see if we can run on the best times what we want,” he predicted.
“My main objective is to adapt as quickly as possible to the new team and the new car to be able to give my 100 per cent. Personally, I hope to fight in the front positions of the grid and try to push the team towards it,” he said.
This is how he faces his sixth season in Formula 1. “I have learned a lot in recent years and I am able to take advantage of all that experience and learning that I have now, which obviously comes from difficult moments as it was in 2019, but also from podiums” , argument.
“This year is key in my sports career and I wanted to reflect it in my new collection. I am very happy to continue working with Hawkers and I love getting involved in the creation process by personally choosing the designs, lenses and colours. I think it is my most complete collection to date and one that everyone will like,” he commented on the collection.
