As of today, Espanyol has 25 players under contract for next season. Not all of them will be in the final squad, bearing in mind that the first mission of the sports management will be to adapt salaries to the category and lower the salary bill. Even Josep Maria Durán, new CEO, commented that sales revenue would help to lessen that cost more easily.
For this reason, there are five players who are included in a bag with the transfer poster. These are those whose salary is high and who have a market: Raúl de Tomás, Leandro Cabrera, Sergi Darder, David López and Marc Roca have a market. Except for the latter, the rest, counting their chips, can have a weight of 25 percent of the salary mass of the workforce.
To solve the previous cases, afterwards there are 19 players who all have more numbers to follow in the final squad, although it will be the coach and the vicissitudes of the market who do the rest. In the goal, Andrés Prieto can terminate his contract taking against the renewal of Diego López and the continuity of Oier Olazábal. In defensive line, today, there are seven players. Three right backs, like Pipa, Javi López or Víctor Gómez. With Fernando Calero and Lluís López in the center, and Adrià Pedrosa and the renewed Dídac Vilà in the sides.
If the central defense is orphaned, also the midfield. Only Álex López, Pol Lozano and Víctor Sánchez would follow the players with a contract, which is why there are two players who could enter the project and with whom Espanyol already has an agreement. They are Keidi Bare from Málaga and Fran Mérida, who has just signed a contract with Osasuna. In the extremes, Espanyol has plenty with Adrián Embarba, Matías Vargas and Nico Melamed, with Óscar Melendo playing on the side or inside. Obviously, the Argentine, whose salary is also high, is not guaranteed continuity although the club does not want to lose him.
And in attack, Víctor Campuzano, Javi Puado and Wu Lei are the available attackers that the entity shuffles while waiting to look for new reinforcements. Of these 19 players, not all of them will follow when the market closes, although they do have many options to start the championship.
