Petr Cornelie will not continue at Real Madrid

MADRID, 26 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid announced on Monday the departure of French power forward Petr Cornelie, who was one of the additions last summer and who is the second player they will not have for next season after Hungarian point guard Adam Hanga.

“Real Madrid CF announces that our basketball player Petr Cornelie has ended his relationship with the club. Real Madrid wants to thank the player for his work and the dedication he has shown during the season in which he has worn our jersey, in which He has won 1 European Cup and 1 Spanish Super Cup. Real Madrid wishes him and his family all the best in this new stage,” said the Real Madrid team.

The eleven-time continental champion signed Cornelie for a season, who arrived from Grand Rapids Gold and who has not finished settling in the plans of coach Chus Mateo, who has barely given him opportunities in the final stretch of the campaign and not even participated in the ‘Playoffs’.

The French power forward averaged 4.4 points and 3 rebounds in the Endesa League Regular Season, while in the Euroleague, where he barely accumulated five minutes in the postseason, he averaged 5.8 points and 3.1 sacks.
