Pepe Martí: “I really want to get to Bahrain, it has been a long winter”

MADRID, 9 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The young Spanish driver Pepe Martí, who will compete in the Formula 2 World Championship thanks to Campos Racing and Red Bull, admitted his “very much looking forward” to facing the official pre-season tests at the Bahrain International Circuit, after “a long winter “.

“I really want to get to Bahrain, it has been a long winter and I want to start working with the official car. In addition to doing it on this circuit, where the World Championship will start in three weeks,” Martí commented in comments to his own racing team. press.

“I'm very excited because it will be my first official season as a Red Bull driver and doing it with Campos Racing is an honor. I don't want to set expectations, I know it will be complicated and that the level of the category is very high, but we will work hard to adapt and improve day by day,” he said a few days after starting the tests.

Three weeks after riding at his home circuit, during the so-called Shakedown, Martí will officially get into his car this Sunday in Bahrain. In Montmeló, the teams only tested the newly designed cars to see that everything was correct, without pure 'performance'. As is usual in a Shakedown, both drivers shared a single car and together with the team, Campos Racing, they focused on seat accommodation and the first sensations of each one.

Now each driver will have his own car and will be able to work hard to put it in conditions with personal characteristics and preferences. The Bahrain tests will allow drivers and engineers to tune up the cars for the first race of the World Championship that will be held on the same track, as well as to carry out specific tests taking into account the other circuits on the calendar.
