Pelé: “I'm getting better every day”

Brazilian star Edson Arantes do Nascimento 'Pelé' continues with his recovery in a hospital and this sunday affirmed that every day is “better”, after undergoing surgery to remove a tumor in the colon. “As you can see, I am punching the air to celebrate that every day I am better,” said the triple world champion, 80, on his Instagram profile.

Pelé accompanied his message with a photograph in which he appears sitting in a chair with his fists in the air, in a corridor of the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, where he has been admitted since August 31 and underwent surgery on September 4 after a suspicious tumor was detected in the colon. The former Santos y Cosmos striker spent several days in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after surgery, although shortly after they raised him to the floor suffered a “brief respiratory instability”, which is why he was transferred to semi-intensive care.

Good humor is the best remedy and I have plenty of that. It couldn't be any different. The love I have received is so much that my heart is full of gratitude, “said the one considered by many to be the best footballer in history. The health of 'O Rei' has deteriorated in recent years due to spinal problems , hip and knee that have notably reduced his mobility and have forced him to undergo surgery, in addition to suffering some kidney crises.
