Pedro Martínez signs up a great battle with Munar to reach the quarterfinals in Chile

MADRID, 24 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Pedro Martínez won (6-4, 5-7, 7-5) his compatriot Jaume Munar to access the quarterfinals of the tournament in Santiago (Chile), in the ATP 250 category and which is played on clay, a three and a half hour battle.

For Martínez it was his debut in the tournament, the second match for a Munar who had made a solid debut (6-1, 6-3) against Colombian Daniel Galán. The Valencian got to serve for the victory in the second set, but had to sweat against a Munar who fought him.

Martínez’s first set already showed a lot of equality, but in the second act, his aggressiveness towards the rest brought him closer to victory. The Valencian pressed until breaking in the ninth game, but Munar reacted with three games in a row to lengthen the match.

Although Munar started losing his serve, the difference was small for a match with so many turns. The Spaniard in fact recovered the ‘break’, but the final blow was from Martínez, also saving his serve to stay in the Spanish duel for a ticket to the quarterfinals in Chile.
