Pedersen beats Philipsen and Van Aert in Limoges and Vingegaard retains the yellow

MADRID, 8 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Danish cyclist Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) won the eighth stage of the 110th edition of the Tour de France this Saturday, held over 201 kilometers between Libourne and Limoges, while his compatriot Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo Visma) retained the jersey yellow.

In a long and agonizing sprint, Pedersen managed to prevail over the Belgians Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck), who was hoping to sign his third victory in this gala round, and Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) to also win the extra prize of the 10 seconds of bonus.

For their part, the Spanish Mikel Landa (Bahrain Victorious) and the British Simon Yates (Team Jayco AlUla) crashed in a heap that left them out of the peloton, entering the finish line 47 seconds behind the winner.
