MADRID, 30 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa qualified for the third round of the Wimbledon tournament, the third ‘Grand Slam’ of the season, after defeating the Romanian Irina Bara with authority on Thursday in two sets 6-3, 6-2.

The Catalan continues in this way with a firm step in her journey in the ‘great’ London, in which last year she reached the round of 16. So far, in his first two games he hasn’t used too much ‘energy’ and has only been there for two hours, in which he has only given up eight games.

After overwhelming the American Louise Chirico in her debut (6-1, 6-2), she did not give options to her second rival, 122 in the WTA ranking and who was playing for the first time in the Wimbledon singles draw. More complications surely awaited her in order to repeat the fourth round since she will have to defeat the Czech Petra Kvitova, double champion (2011 and 2014).

Badosa, who arrived in London with a loss in his only game on grass and without his best feelings, played at a high level and gave the feeling of always having control of the match, supported above all by his powerful serve. The Spaniard only lost three points with the first and nine with the second, although she gave up two break balls without too much impact, while she did a lot of damage to Bara from the baseline, especially with the ‘drive’.

The fourth seed began commanding thanks to an early ‘break’ to take 3-1, an advantage that was instantly lost due to his worst game of the match, with two double faults and two unforced errors with his forehand. However, he did not accuse him and broke again to regain control and not have any problems to close the set.

In the second, Bara tried to maintain the equality from the start, but Badosa accelerated and did not waste his moment to finish the contest. With 1-2 on the scoreboard, the Catalan took five consecutive games and firmly sealed her place in the third round.
