Patrick Mahomes, ‘MVP’ of the season in the NFL

MADRID, 10 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The stellar ‘quarterback’ of the Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes was chosen this Thursday as the ‘Most Valuable Player’ (‘MVP’) of the 2022-2023 season of the American NFL, a bad omen for the Super Bowl this Sunday.

Mahomes signed another spectacular campaign, throwing for more than 5,000 yards and for a total of 41 ‘touchdowns’, and was the favorite for this award, which he won for the second time in his career after 2018-2019. He did it overwhelmingly as he received 490 points, to the 193 of the second most voted, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, his rival this Sunday for Vince Lombardi at State Farm in Glendale, Arizona.

However, winning the ‘MVP’ has been a bad omen for more than two decades for the one who wins it and has to play the great final of American football. In fact, since the 1999-2000 campaign, when ‘QB’ Kurt Warner took it and the Saint Louis Rams won the ring, no other winner has been able to achieve this ‘double’. Mahomes lost to the New England Patriots in the conference final of his first ‘MVP’.

In addition, Brian Daboll (New York Giants) took the recognition for the best coach, Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings) and Nick Bosa (San Francisco 49ers), the best offensive and defensive player respectively, and Geno Smith (Seattle Seahawks), the best comeback, among others.
