Parrizas takes the Spanish duel with Sorribes to be in the semifinals of Monterrey

MADRID, 5 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Nuria Parrizas qualified this Friday for the semifinals of the Monterrey tournament (Mexico), of category 250 in the WTA and which is played on a hard court, by beating (6-3, 1-6, 6-4) her compatriot Sara Sorribes.

The Andalusian took the duel against the Castellón native, the first time that both faced each other, after just over three hours of intense fighting. The Spanish clash did not have a calm game and Parrizas kept a hard-fought ticket to the ‘semis’.

The first set showed the turns that the match would have, when Sorribes took the lead and Parrizas reacted with five games in a row to score the sleeve. The Andalusian was seen below again in the second act, and this time Sorribes made the rent good.

Both already knew that the battle would be long, that they were bringing out their best version in a 2022 season that had not yet completely smiled on them. Parrizas took the lead in the third set but suffered from the rest until Sorribes achieved the ‘break’.

It was a give and take that kept the Andalusian on top, able to save four break balls in the tenth game to close the victory with 6-4. Parrizas will face the Ukrainian Elina Svitolina or the Colombian María Osorio for a place in the final.
