Haaland's father, Erling, who was also a professional footballer (among others, played for Manchester City), gave an interview to the German channel Sport1 in which he talked about the future of Borussia Dortmund's fashionable scorer. At 20, Haaland is on the agenda of the main clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid. For now, as AS has learned, there is a verbal pact between his representative, Mino Raiola, and Borussia, to facilitate Haaland's departure in 2022. In any case, his father, in a sober way, lets himself be loved.
Sport1: Other major international clubs have long shown interest in your son. what do you think about it?
Haaland father: When you play well, it makes sense for the big clubs to knock on the door. But we are talking about speculation here. At the moment it is not in my son or in my head that another club will compete for him. We signed a long contract with Dortmund and BVB has a fantastic team for Erling at the moment. We don't want to look any further.
Sport1: But maybe next summer?
Haaland father: You never know what will happen. We haven't talked about that step yet. I think he would like to win some trophies with Dortmund. That is your goal. Erling can still achieve a lot in Germany and make great progress. Abroad is not a priority for us.
Sport1: Are you more likely to play in England or Spain?
Haaland father: Sometimes I think he wants and can assert himself in all leagues. At the moment he is happy in the Bundesliga. The question is difficult to answer. Football is always new and different, and at the moment it is focused on Dortmund. He always looks to the next workout and wants to improve. He just wants to be a better player and doesn't look that far.
Sport1: Should the BVB bosses say more clearly that Erling should definitely stay?
Haaland father: I don't think bosses need to be clearer. They take good care of it and are very happy with its performance. He can play almost every week and he appreciates it with many goals for the team. Is there something more beautiful? Then it's okay. We don't have to discuss this in the media. He is happy to be in Dortmund and to play for this club. There are a lot of nice people and it really is a fantastic club.
