MADRID, 5 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Girona announced on Monday the return of their former midfielder Oriol Romeu, on loan from FC Barcelona after an unsuccessful season with the Blaugrana team.
“Oriol Romeu will wear the red and white shirt again. The midfielder from Ulldecona arrives at Montilivi on loan after a season at FC Barcelona. The pivot, who will train with the team tomorrow, thus returns to Girona, with whom he played 34 games in the 2022-2023 season,” says the Girona club.
Barça had given the player permission to leave the training camp in the United States and negotiate his future in what was expected to be a return to Girona. With Míchel’s team he was at his best two years ago and hence his signing for FC Barcelona, but under Xavi Hernández he did not have the same success.
Girona thus recovers a player who was key for Míchel, although last year, without him, they achieved the historic qualification for the Champions League. The Catalan team also remembers the great track record of Romeu, who also played for Chelsea, Valencia, Stuttgart and Southampton, with Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup (Chelsea); Spanish League and Super Cup (FC Barcelona) and a European Under-17 Championship with Spain.
