Onana, on Cameroon’s list for the Africa Cup

Cameroon, host of the Africa Cup, announced on Wednesday his list of summoned for the tournament, which includes former Barcelona player André Onana. This list includes seven of the players who won the 2017 Africa Cup with Cameroon. This edition begins on January 9 and ends on February 6.

The Cameroonian team, coached by Toni Conceiçao, debuts in the tournament on January 9 against Burkina Faso in Yaoundé. His other rivals in group A are Ethiopia and Cape Verde.

Defenders Collins Fai, Michael Ngadeu Ngadjui and Ambroise Onyango, winger Clinton Njie and forwards Vincent Aboubakar, Christian Bassogog and Karl Toko Ekambi are, from the current list, those who were proclaimed African champions in 2017. The last of the five African Cups won by Cameroon.

Njie is back, excluded from the six qualifying matches for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Onana and Choupo Moting were called up for 2017 but in the end decided to remain in their clubs. Angers winger Enzo Ebosse has now been called up for the first time, opting to play for Cameroon after having played for France in the youth ranks.
