El Rayo has made official this Tuesday the continuity of Fran García. The franjirrojo club executed the purchase option, which was around two million euros and allowed it to get 50% of the player's rights – the remaining 50% belongs to Real Madrid-, making sure his services for four more seasons. That is, until June 2025. Therefore, the Vallecana entity has thus fulfilled a wish that it publicly expressed from the moment the promotion was achieved. Nevertheless, El Rayo was willing to exercise that option even if he had stayed in Second.
Fran García, 21, is one of the left wingers with the greatest projection of our League and there were several First team teams that had him on the agenda. He grew up in La Fábrica and left on loan last summer to Vallecas. There, wearing the Strip, he debuted in Second and did it with a note. It's more, the defender became a fundamental piece for Iraola, who has lined up him in 3,648 minutes, spread over 41 games, starting in each and every one of them. In fact, Fran is the third player who has played the most in the squad, behind Catena (3,870) and Álvaro García (3,659).
Precisely Fran and Álvaro have formed a lethal society on the left wing, to the point that the Garcia they channeled much of Rayo's offensive game. To defense only an injury stopped him, a partial tear of the cruciate ligament in his right knee, which he exceeded in record time: 19 days. Afterwards, he has been fulfilling challenges.
