Official: Dani Martín is Málaga's fifth signing

The signing of Dani Martín for Málaga is now official. The Asturian goalkeeper arrives on loan to La Rosaleda until the end of the season. No purchase option and he could be present this Saturday with his new teammates in the double commitment that the team will have against Alcorcón (10:00 am) and Almería (7:00 pm).

José Alberto knows him perfectly because he had him under his command during his time as Sporting coach, both in the first team and with the subsidiary. His great possibilities made him deserve the attention of several teams, finally being Betis who took over his signing after paying four million euros (plus another agreed for various objectives). Never had the Verdiblancos paid so much for a goalkeeper Vernía as a substitute for Pau López, who was transferred to Roma for 25 million euros.

But things took a turn and the young goalkeeper found himself with tough competition in the Heliopolitan team: Rui Silva, Claudio Bravo and Joel Robles. That is why he has had to go out in search of new challenges and will compete for the position with another Dani, Barrio. It is Málaga's fifth signing after those of Javi Jiménez, Paulino, Ismael Gutiérrez and Brandon Thomas.

This is the official club statement.

“Dani Martín (7/8/1998, Gijón) is a young goalkeeper who stands out for his agility and good foot handling. With just 23 years and a great future ahead of him, his skills have allowed him to have debuted in the First Division and to have been part of the Spanish National Team champion in the European Under-21 in 2019.

During his career he has played for two historic Spanish football clubs: Sporting de Gijón and Real Betis Balompié. He made his debut for the Asturian team at the age of 19 against CD Numancia in the Copa del Rey and, due to his quality, work and projection, he signed for the Verdiblanco team in 2019. The player has arrived at Málaga CF to pull his genius and meet again with José Alberto López, with whom he coincided at Real Sporting de Gijón.

Dani arrives on loan from Real Betis Balompié until the end of the season, and the operation does not include a purchase option at the end of the season ”.
