Ocon, “disappointed” with Alonso: “There was no need for his criticism”

MADRID, 25 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The French Formula 1 driver Esteban Ocon (Alpine) confessed this Friday a part of “disappointment” with his last partner, Fernando Alonso, for what he described as “unnecessary criticism” of the Spanish, after a year of different piques and the last incident in Brazil.

“It’s no secret that I was disappointed to see his comments after the race. There was no need for some [de las] criticisms that he has made”, said the Frenchman in statements collected this Friday by the official website of the Formula 1 World Cup.

Alonso also made his disappointment clear, especially after Sao Paulo, the penultimate round of the World Cup, when he was left out of the sprint on Saturday due to a collision with his teammate. Later, in the straight line, both would meet again, with a second touch for which the double world champion was penalized.

“It’s far from ideal when he’s your teammate, but it’s been a bit like that. [con Ocon] all year long,” before referencing his move to Aston Martin by adding, “it’s one more race and then it’s over, finally.

The Asturian did not hide his relief to end the season the following week in Abu Dhabi and start a new adventure at Aston Martin. For Ocon, the criticism was excessive, although he acknowledged his respect for the Spanish driver.

“But I respect him a lot. I will always respect him for what he has done on the track over the years. He is a legend of the sport and that will not change, but he disappointed me a bit,” he finished.
