“Although we have not achieved the results we expected together, it has been a fantastic journey”

MADRID, 23 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Williams Racing has confirmed this Friday that the Canadian driver Nicholas Latifi will not continue with the British team for the 2023 season, so he will fulfill the current contract that ends at the end of this Formula 1 season.

Latifi made his top-flight debut for Williams Racing at the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix and has so far driven 55 races, collecting 7 championship points, including his scoring debut at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix .

Now, once his departure is confirmed, Williams Racing will soon announce the full driver line-up for 2023, where a companion for Alex Albon will be sought.

“My debut in Formula 1 was postponed due to the pandemic, but we finally got going in Austria and, although we haven’t achieved the results we hoped for together, it’s been a fantastic journey. Getting those first points in Hungary last year was a moment I will never forget,” explained Nicholas Latifi.

For his part, the general and team manager, Jost Capito, thanked the Canadian for his “hard work” in his three years as a Williams driver. “He is a great team player who has a great attitude towards his colleagues and his work and is well loved and respected throughout the company. Our time together is coming to an end, but I know he will do his best to maximize what we can.” do together in the remainder of the season”, he concluded.
