The legend of the NFL Tom Brady has become a minority owner of Birmingham City, the Championship club – the second category of English football – and will become the president of the new Advisory Council of the entity.
As chair of that Advisory Council, Brady will apply his “extensive leadership experience” and technical knowledge to various components of the club, as well as having a say in health, nutrition, wellness and recovery systems and programs.
“Brady will work closely with the Board and management team in global marketing efforts and in identifying new business partnership opportunities for the club,” Birmingham City said in a statement.
The new minority owner of the ‘blues’ retired in 2023 after 23 seasons in the NFL, where he holds the record for Super Bowl victories, with seven, and Super Bowl MVP, with five.
Tom Brady assured that Birmingham City is an “emblematic club with a lot of history” and that being part of it is a “true honour” for him. “I’m excited to work together with the board of directors, managers and players to make a club second to none. I’ve been part of incredible teams in my time, and I’m looking forward to applying my perspective to create that same success here in Birmingham,” he said.
For his part, the president of the club’s Board of Directors, Tom Wagner, assured that Tom Brady’s arrival at Birmingham City is “a complete declaration of intent”. “We’re setting the bar for world class and Tom is investing and committing his time and his extensive experience,” he said.
“As Chairman of the Advisory Board, Brady will have a direct impact on the club. The men’s, women’s and academy teams will benefit from his insights.
