The Spanish tennis player Rafa Nadal has highlighted the importance of his victory in the final of the Melbourne tournament (Australia) against the American Maxime Cressy (7-6 (6), 6-3) after having gone through “difficult moments”, such as his foot injury and having passed the coronavirus.
“I am coming back after experiencing some difficult moments, so I cannot be more happy to have a trophy in my hands. For me it means all this moment,” he declared after his triumph, which represents the achievement of his 89th trophy on the circuit ATP.
All this in the Rod Laver Arena, where from January 17 he will participate in the Australian Open, the first ‘Grand Slam’ of the season. “This track has always been very special to me. Here I have lived incredible moments,” confessed the Spaniard.

Finally, Nadal had a few words of affection towards Cressy, who in the semifinals eliminated the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov. “It has been a great start to the season for you, I wish you the best for the season and your career. Your style will prevail. It is something that you bring back to the sport, it is a pleasure to see players like you again,” he concluded.
