Rafa Nadal is already in Acapulco to fight for the title of champion of the Telcel Mexican Open that he won in 2020 in one of the last tournaments played before the coronavirus pandemic and after not attending the tournament in 2021 to rest after the Australian Open.
Nadal landed this Thursday in Mexico to play his first tournament after winning his 21st Grand Slam title at the Australian Open. Nadal has a special love affair with Acapulco, as he has won the title three times in the five editions he has participated in and reached the final on another occasion in 2017.
Nadal has not come to Mexico for tourism and a good example of this is that the Balearic already trained a few hours after his arrival on the courts where the Telcel Mexican Open will be played, that in this edition will have a luxury participation with the presence of Nadal, from the Russian Daniil Medvedev, who will come out as number one in the ranking if he wins the tournament, and German Alexander Zverev, defender of the title won in 2021.
