Nacho Cano says that “they have tried to ruin my life” and Susanna Griso advises him to “keep fighting”

Indignation, anger and no kind of filter. This was Nacho Cano’s intervention in Public mirror this very Friday before Susanna Gray. Released on bail following his arrest for allegedly hiring illegal immigrants for his musical ‘Malinche’, the composer has expressed his irritation at the controversy surrounding him: “They have tried to ruin my life, saying that I am a sexual harasser”he assured in the Antena 3 magazine.

The musician has once again lashed out at the government, accusing them of targeting him: “I think we live in a very delicate regime. There is manipulation by all powers. They have gone after me”However, this is not the first time he has done so. On the same day of his arrest, he claimed that the police investigation was a strategy by the executive because of his “friendship with Ayuso” and to divert attention from the latest scandal involving the president’s wife, who is being investigated for alleged crimes of corruption and influence peddling.

Given this situation, Susanna Griso has advised her: “If you are sure of your innocence, keep fighting”. Something to which Cano has reacted with a clear warning: “I can’t not fight. I have no other choice. They’re coming for me. Tomorrow, it could happen to any of you.”.

The former member of Mecano has also explained, in the company of his lawyers, how the scholarship program was undertaken, which allowed the entry of immigrants into national territory to expand their professional training in the performing arts. Cano’s lawyers have assured that the 19 young people who came to Spain to collaborate “They are not contracted workers,” but rather “interns who are completing a course of study.”

As reported, the musical’s administrative structure requested the young people’s stay “through tourist entry.” That is, they could carry out their work in Spain with full legality, since the tourist visa supports their presence for training purposes. However, the aforementioned request was denied in May 2023, so the musician’s lawyers issued an appeal against the provisions at the end of the month.

It is true that the fact that the dancers appeared on stage, given their status as interns under a practice regulation, is also being investigated. Regarding this, the lawyers have explained: “Within the practices, they made a specific appearance on stage because it is part of their training in the performing arts. The aim has been to train them. They are in a scholarship programme. There is no over-exploitation of labour or any other type. Nor are there any irregularities. We are complying with the current regulations.”the magazine headed by Susanna Griso has stated. Furthermore, they have pointed out that the school “is registered with the Community of Madrid” and that, therefore, it allows “homologation” with respect to the qualification of young people trained in the performing arts.

Regarding whether the workers were registered with social security or not and whether, therefore, the musical as an entity was committing a crime, they have clarified that until December it was not necessary to register the trainees, as they were subject to a legal framework in Royal Decree 592/2014, which clarified the voluntary nature of the entity in its application. It was not until January, when new legislation came into force which does establish that all workers in training must pay Social Security. Thus, they justify this fact, as the young people arrived in December.
