The German midfielder Thomas muller did not train with the group today in final practice before the game against Hungary while the other players who had been away –Toni Kroos, Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gündogan– they were once again available to the coach Joachim Löw.
Kroos was absent on Monday as a measure to regulate the effort, while Hummels and Gündogan had knee problems and calf problems respectively.
Müller suffered a capsule injury to his right knee towards the end of the game against Portugal and it is doubtful for tomorrow.
While the group trained, Müller first worked out in the gym and then was running with the right back, who comes from a muscle injury and is in the process of recovery.
The absence of Müller in training today makes it more likely that tomorrow he will be dismissed as Löw will have to rebuild the team.
A variant that has been considered is the entry of Leon Goretzka to the team, who, although he normally plays later, could assume the functions of Müller in the midfielder.
Former international Bastian Schweinsteiger, among others, has warned that Müller is a player who cannot be substituted 100 percent.
“The contribution that Thomas makes is not only in what he plays but also in what he speaks. He is constantly coordinating and organizing the team,” said Schweinsteiger.
