Muguruza, out for Cincinnati, hopes to reach US Open

Garbiñe Muguruza will not be able to participate in the Western & Southern Open that this year will be held in New York, instead of in Cincinnati, from August 22 to 30. Some discomfort in the left ankle has forced the resignation of the Spanish, who hopes to be recovered to face, also in the Big Apple, the US Open (August 31 to September 13).

“Following the recommendation of my medical team, I have decided to withdraw from the Cincinnati tournament due to discomfort in my left ankle. I hope to continue evolving well and to be able to arrive in a position to compete in the US Open. I really want to get back into racing and do it in New York. I know that both the WTA and the USTA are making a great effort to make it possible for us to play again and I will work hard so that I can be there a lot. “Garbiñe says in a statement.

Muguruza thus delays his trip to the United States, where he planned to compete and continues with the intention of doing so at least in the best New York, before returning to Europe to play the tournaments in Rome and Roland Garros in September.
