More than 5,000 visitors and 400 participants enjoy the Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank in Malaga

This Saturday, the Plaza de la Marina in Malaga hosted the fourth stop of the Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank 2022, which has registered the great participation of 400 male and female players in 100 teams of all categories, the largest number recorded in this edition, and which has received more than 5,000 visitors.

The capital of Malaga, where a total of 159 matches have been played with the help of 25 volunteers attached to the FEB-CaixaBank Volunteer Program, has picked up the baton from Melilla, Madrid and Palma, and has witnessed a day that has brought together fans like the former international and captain of the Spanish basketball team Fran Vázquez.

The event has had the institutional support of the Andalusian Government, the Malaga Provincial Council and the Malaga City Council, as well as the collaboration of the Andalusian Basketball Federation from its Delegation in Malaga. This has been the fourth of the 12 scheduled stops in this 2022 edition of Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank, which stops in the summer before resuming at the end of August in Pamplona.

The manager of Málaga Deporte y Eventos, Ignacio Gómez Camarero, highlighted the “honor” of receiving Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank. “We are delighted to welcome you in a summer that, in addition, in a few days we will experience the Men’s Under-17 World Cup, whose final phase will be held at the Martín Carpena”, he indicated.

For his part, Borja Vivas, sports director of the Diputación de Málaga, stressed that they had experienced “an impressive day”. “Having such an emblematic square full of young people, hopefully we will continue to experience it in Malaga in the following years because promoting grassroots sports is a priority objective for us”, he explained.

For his part, the director of CaixaBank’s Business Area in Malaga, Luis Felipe Siles, recognized that the bank is “proud” to sponsor the circuit. “We’ve been here for ten years now and hopefully we’ll continue for many more, because it’s not only street sport but it also promotes the values ​​that bind us to basketball such as effort, commitment and teamwork,” he said.

“We are very happy to experience this stop, Malaga is basketball, and it is a joy to see so many boys and girls wearing the shirts of all our clubs. Our thanks to the FEB and CaixaBank for bringing this circuit here”, assured the coach of the Andalusian Federation Javier Castillo.

Lastly, the former team captain and FEB Ambassador Carlos Jiménez thanked “the institutions that have made this day possible and CaixaBank for its commitment”. “It’s been ten years now, and at the FEB we are very happy with its success, a very fun format, also today in an enclave as emblematic as this one”, he explained.

The FEB launched the Plaza 3×3 program in 2012, from its first edition by CaixaBank. Since its inception, the circuit has reached 101 stops, 45,000 participants and 225,000 visitors. All this in a total of 42 cities throughout Spain: A Coruña, Albacete, Alcalá de Henares, Alcázar de San Juan, Almendralejo, Almería, Ávila, Badajoz, Barcelona, ​​Bilbao, Burgos, Cáceres, Castellón, Cartagena, Córdoba, Gijón, Guadalajara, Granada, Huelva, Jaén, Jerez de la Frontera, León, Leganés, L’Hospitalet, Logroño, Madrid, Málaga, Melilla, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca, Pamplona, ​​Plasencia, San Sebastián, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Santander, Santiago of Compostela, Segovia, Seville, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Terrassa, Valencia, Zaragoza and Zarautz.
