More than 230 fencers from 41 countries will compete in the Villa de Madrid Men’s Saber World Cup

The individual and team competition will take place from May 6 to 8 at the Gallur Municipal Sports Center

The Sports delegate of the Madrid City Council, Sofía Miranda, and the president of the Spanish Fencing Federation, José Luis Abajo ‘Pirri’, presented this Thursday the 39th Villa de Madrid Men’s Saber World Cup, which will be played from 6 to May 8 more than 230 fencers from 41 countries at the Gallur Municipal Sports Center in the individual and team categories.

With this participation record at the Villa de Madrid, the Gallur track will host the top finishers in the world ranking, including the Hungarian Aron Szilagy, three consecutive times individual Olympic champion.

“We are very happy to host this great competition that brings together two of the objectives we set for ourselves, to promote minority sports and promote major sporting events to be benchmarks in national and international sport,” said Sofía Miranda.

For its part, Down has highlighted the collaboration and facilities for the organization of the tournament by the Madrid City Council. “It is one of the most anticipated competitions by all shooters who always want to come to Madrid, and this year it will have even more prestige thanks to the title of World Capital of Sport 2022,” said ‘Pirri’.
