The Montepino Logística developer has acquired a land of 115,000 square meters in Malaga in which it will develop its next project in which it expects an investment of 80 million euros. An operation in which the Aragonese company has had the advice of the real estate consultant Novus Business and Jones Day as legal advisor.
The Aragonese firm, which enters with this operation in the Andalusian market, plans to develop in this land a logistics complex of more than 50,000 square meters in order to solve the transportation process, urban delivery and last mile distribution. The works will begin in 2020 after obtaining the licenses, while the delivery of keys will be done in the first quarters of 2021.
The facilities will make it possible to reduce the delivery and collection of merchandise in urban areas, thus facilitating the provision of a more agile service. In addition, the customer experience in e-commerce will be improved, as explained by the company.
The project will be carried out following the highest levels of quality and sustainability, reducing the environmental impact. The logistics complex will also be developed under the efficiency parameters of the LEED energy certification, which is issued by the US Green Bulding Council.
The objective is that these facilities are “a leading logistics space, which, due to its location, allows us to advance in the last mile operations market, and on the other hand it will cover the needs of our clients to meet the challenge of being able to operate with same-day delivery products, “as explained by Juan José Vera, vice president of Operations at Montepino.
This is the first development that the Aragonese firm undertakes in Andalusia. A project that is part of its strategic expansion plan nationwide and that will allow it to exceed one million square meters developed for logistics area in the coming months, becoming one of the largest owners of logistics properties in Spain.
The presence in Andalusia adds to the expansion that the company has already made in Spain in the main national logistics plazas such as Madrid, Barcelona, Toledo, Marchamalo, Coslada or Guadalajara.
Montepino, recently, has launched three projects in Catalonia. Two of them are located in Castellbisbal, where they are building a Transport and Distribution Center for XPO, while the other is located in the municipality of Sant Esteve Sesrovires, where a logistics warehouse for a company in the automotive industry will be located.
