MADRID, 13 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has assured that he has “more or less decided” his future, although he has not revealed whether or not he will continue in the white team, in addition to being “very sad” about the departure of French striker Karim Benzema.
“We’ll see, I’m focused on the League of Nations. We’ll talk about the future of my career after this competition. I’ve more or less decided, but now the focus is on the match and on the national team. I’ve already talked a lot about the future in Real Madrid and I don’t want to repeat myself, I’m focused on Croatia”, he declared at a press conference.
In addition, he acknowledged being “sad” by the departure of the Frenchman Karim Benzema from the Madrid team. “Karim has decided to leave and I am very sad about it. Losing this type of player is a pity. Each one chooses his own path and decides what is best for him,” he underlined.
The Croatian captain explained that now he only thinks about enjoying the Balkan team, which he will face this Wednesday in the semifinals of the Final Four of the League of Nations. “Each call-up with the national team makes me happy and fulfills me, I don’t enjoy just because my end in the national team is near. I am happy and as long as I believe I can help Croatia, there is no reason not to be here,” he said.
Regarding the Dutch team, he stressed that it is a “young and talented” team that is returning “to the old ways of glory”. “It is a generation of great quality. It will be difficult to face them in front of their fans, but our fans will also be there and it will be an incentive for us,” he said.
“In my opinion, the chances are 50-50%, it’s up to us to give our best again. We have a lot of enthusiasm, will and energy, we work phenomenally and we feel good, although we have a difficult game ahead of us against a great team full of top level players who are the future of European and world football”, he concluded.
