Miki Oca: “We have to keep working and keep polishing details”

MADRID, 5 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish women's water polo coach, Miki Oca, advocated “continuing working and continuing to polish details” ahead of the second day of the absolute European Championship, which is being held in Eindhoven (Netherlands), after having won this Friday by 17 -8 to the France team in their debut.

“For the Israel match we have to continue working and continue polishing small details that, although they have been worked on previously, must be carried out in competition and it is time to put them on stage,” Oca declared to the official media of the Royal Spanish Football Federation. Swimming (RFEN), after beating the French team.

“With the idea that tomorrow is a match that may still be a little bit of filming for the important phase of the championship, which begins with the match against Italy to compete for first place in the group. And from there, well, the quarterfinals final,” he said about Spain's duel against Israel this Saturday (8:30 p.m.) during the second day.

Regarding the debut against France, Oca highlighted the “very good start to the game” that his players had had. “It is very important that we have worked well in defense and we have defended well. And from there, we have already managed to gain a distance on the scoreboard that we have maintained until the end,” argued the Spanish coach.

“Obviously there are things that we are going to work on to improve, but in general terms the team has done a good job,” he admitted. “The team has been rotating and the difference between young people and veterans has not been noticeable. The team has performed all the time, whoever was in the water, at a very similar level; therefore, for now the integration of the younger people seems to be doing well,” he concluded.
