Mike Caldwell, the former defensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars, is reportedly being interviewed by the Philadelphia Eagles, as reported by NFL insider Jeremy Fowler.
Whether or not Caldwell will be interviewed for the DC position is not entirely clear. Although not explicitly stated, Fowler did so.
He just stated, “Philadelphia is currently seeking a new defensive coordinator,” following his initial statement that the Eagles will interview with Caldwell.
Caldwell is rumored to be in discussion with the Las Vegas Raiders regarding a possible position, possibly that of senior defensive assistant, according to Fowler.
Potential candidates for the position of defensive coordinator, which the Philadelphia Eagles need, are beginning to surface.
Caldwell, who turns 53 in August, will be well-known to Eagles supporters as a former coach and player for the organization.
Caldwell was a linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1998 to 2001, after which he ascended to the coaching staff of Andy Reid from 2008 to 2012.

At the Jaguars, Caldwell, 52, was a member for two seasons. He joined the team a few weeks after Doug Pederson became head coach. He had previously served as a linebackers coach for the Arizona Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Jaguars ranked twelfth in the NFL for points allowed during Caldwell’s rookie season, a significant improvement from their 28th-place finish in 2021.
In 2023, Jacksonville’s defense regressed despite the return of every single starter from the previous season, all eleven.
The Jaguars ranked seventeenth in terms of points allowed and struggled mightily over the final six weeks of the campaign. Additionally, Caldwell will speak with the Raiders of Vegas regarding a senior defense staff position, according to Fowler.

Following an impressive start to the season, the Jaguars’ defense conceded 30 points or more in four of their six losses in the latter half, including two such contests to Joe Flacco and Jake Browning.
Defensively, Pederson lamented inadequate assignments and dropped tackles during the Jaguars’ 1-5 stretch over the previous six contests.
As a result, in their season-ending loss to the Tennessee Titans, the Jaguars surrendered 28 points, including twenty-one first-half points and more than eight yards per carry.
