MADRID, 6 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The German driver Mick Schumacher (Haas) has recognized that “it is not easy” to focus on Formula 1 due to the “terrible events” of recent days in Ukraine with the Russian invasion, to which is added the controversial expulsion of the team Haas of the Russian pilot Nikita Mazepin.
“We try to focus on running. Of course, that is not easy at all due to all the terrible events in Ukraine,” the 22-year-old told German Sunday newspaper ‘Bild am Sonntag’.
On Saturday, the Haas Formula 1 team terminated the contract of Russian driver Nikita Mazepin and that of his main sponsor, Uralkali, owned by the athlete’s father, due to the ties that unite the family with the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, maximum responsible for his country’s offensive in Ukraine.
However, the son of seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher explained that he “absolutely” regrets signing with the American team. “I’m happy here and I get along with everyone. It’s not a routine thing,” he explained.
While the team decides who will accompany Schumacher this season in the Haas garage, the German is focused on the final test sessions in Bahrain. “The first impression is positive. I think we can go further with the car,” he said.
