Michael Douglas celebrates his 80th birthday with a party on the street with his Mallorcan neighbours but without Catherine Zeta-Jones

Ball de bot, traditional sweets and lots of friends. This is how the actor celebrated his 80th birthday in advance on Monday Michael Douglas in Valldemossa, the Mallorcan town where he is enjoying his golden retirement. The actor has recorded some images of the party with his mobile phone and they are already spreading like wildfire on social networks, where people applaud the generosity and simplicity of the Hollywood star.

The husband of Catherine Zeta-Jones Douglas has taken advantage of his stay on the island to celebrate early, as he will turn 80 on September 25. It was his way of thanking the affection and hospitality of all his neighbors, who welcomed him with open arms since he acquired S’Estaca for 3.5 million euros in 1990, a magnificent mansion built by Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria (one of the most emblematic figures on the island) in the mid-19th century and located on a 100-hectare plot of land. With the renovations and improvements of recent years, it has a current market value of almost 30 million euros. Douglas has tried to sell it on several occasions, the last in 2020, but has ended up changing his mind.

In Valldemossa he feels like one of the locals and walks through the streets without fear of the paparazzi. He enjoys a quiet life and is completely integrated into the customs and traditions of the town. It is his own private paradise. The winner of two Oscars and five Golden Globes arrived alone on June 10 (awaiting the arrival of his wife and children, Dylan and Carys) and met up with his friends in one of the most famous bars in the town, Sa Foganya, where he had a cappuccino.
