Covering the news of CD Badajoz inspires other people with Down syndrome

The official photographer of CD Badajoz, Diego Arana Schlettwein, at 29 years old, has become an example of equality and inclusion for his work in Second Federation, serving as an inspiration to other people with Down syndrome and being a reference for the Royal Federation Spanish Football (RFEF).
“Diego, a young man in love with football and Badajoz, is now living his dream as the club’s official photographer, capturing the emotions of the black and white team through his lenses,” the RFEF highlighted this Wednesday on its website.
“From a very young age, Diego broke barriers and taboos to make his art known, perfected thanks to his enormous dedication and professionalism,” the press release added. Arana studied photography in the United States and previously worked in Mexican clubs such as Coras de Tepic, Club Atlético Zacatepec and Club Atlético Morelia, the latter team with which he was champion of the Liga Expansión.
“He does not miss any training or match. Nor does he miss the harangues. He is one more member of the club who feels with all his strength. An example that serves as an inspiration for many people who encounter difficulties along the way due to having different abilities,” stressed the RFEF.
Arana himself, as reflected by the RFEF in a video, praised his career: “We have to break the fear. Inside me I know that I can do anything.” “The RFEF is committed to giving visibility to all those initiatives that promote equality and demonstrate that diversity is enriching,” the federation note stated.
For this reason, the RFEF recently created the Department of Equality, “with the challenge of advancing in this matter within Spanish football.” “Diego’s story is confirmation of the importance of this sport as an instrument of social change. A real example that inclusion is possible, necessary and successful,” the RFEF concluded in its note.
