Argentina has taken a mass bath in San Mamés. Around 15,000 fans came to the Athletic stadium to see Lionel Scaloni’s pupils in action. A session in which Messi, of course, stood out above all in terms of popular acceptance.
The training of the Albiceleste lasted for approximately an hour and a half. Nothing special on the part of the Argentine team. A work session that could well have been carried out at Lezama’s own facilities. The audience, the vast majority of whom were very young, thus had the opportunity to see one of the most powerful teams on the world scene today in action.
It was not an open door session to use. On the contrary. Those who came to San Mamés to see Leo Messi, Otamendi, Di María, Lautaro and company live had to go through the box office. Twelve euros for the general public, ten for members of Athletic and the Atletico Club Foundation itself.
The most veterans also recognized Argentine footballers at grass level who once faced Athletic itself defending the Barça jersey, as was the case with Marcherano, or that of Valencia and Zaragoza, such as Aimar. Both are part of the Scaloni work team. A team that, having seen what has been seen, prepares and organizes the preparatory sessions with the meticulousness of the also Argentinian Bielsa during his time as coach of Athletic. The ball always as the protagonist.
Music, banners and applause
The fervent Argentine fans were also seen and heard inside and outside the stands of San Mamés with usual songs on the fields of that country. La Albiceleste now faces the Wembley Finalissima against Italy scheduled for June 1. His stay in Bilbao is helping him prepare for this great event and, incidentally, pave the way for the World Cup in Qatar.
