Mere Hermoso, new coach of Alcorcón

Next year Mere Hermoso will face his second experience in the silver category of Spanish football at the head of Alcorcón, a team that this last season dreamed of promoting with Fran Fernández on the bench.

Mere Hermoso (Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz; 1975) arrives at Alcorcón, with which he has signed until 2021, backed by the last seasons in charge of Fuenlabrada, which he promoted from Second B to Second and from which he was dismissed in March after an outstanding first round and a losing streak of thirteen games without losing in the second.

He was coach of Fuenlabrada for 77 games with 33 wins, 25 draws and 19 losses. During this time his team added 104 goals for and 73 against.

The technician from Cádiz has spent his entire professional life dedicated to football, first as a player in Cádiz, Algeciras, Motril and Mensajero, all of Segunda B, and as a coach in teams such as Portuense, Conil de la Frontera, Algeciras, Cádiz B and Fuenlabrada.

His professional leap occurred in 2015 when he debuted in Segunda B with Algeciras and later promoted to Third with the Cádiz subsidiary. His good work in teams from southern Spain earned him to accept the Fuenlabrada offer in 2018, with which he achieved a historic promotion to Second.

Along with his trusted coaching staff, Mere Hermoso will try to implant in Alcorcón his philosophy of play based on a motto that has traveled through other teams: “Everyone before me.”

His credentials as a detailed, orderly, intense technician and supporter of physical work are what have caused the Alcorcón sports management headed by Emilio Vega to decide for him after concluding the stage of Fran Fernández.

The challenge is to overcome the numbers of the Almería coach in Alcorcón after placing the team tenth in the standings with 57 points, three behind the promotion, and saved several days before the conclusion of the championship.

“I am very grateful for the treatment and the confidence transmitted from Alcorcón. We will try to reciprocate with dedication, rigor and enthusiasm. I know that the human background of this club is made up of humble and hard-working people, both in the dressing room and in all areas of the club. The work of Fran Fernández, coaching staff, players and sports management has been brutal and we will fight to give continuity to that, “said Mere after announcing his signing for a season with the pottery team.

The new Alcorcón property since 2019, led by the group Best Navy S.L. and with Iván Bravo as president, he set himself the goal from his arrival to take steps to, in the medium term, fight for promotion to First. For the second season the goal is not to give up on that dream. EFE.
