MADRID, 21 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Spain will attend the Glasgow Cycling World Championships (Scotland) with a powerful women’s block, led by Mavi García and Ane Santesteban for the online test, to look for a good result and, in addition, Sara Martín and Mireia Benito will try to beat the clock in the time trial.

Six cyclists will make up the Spanish team at the Glasgow World Championships, a new championship with all disciplines except cyclocross, which will take place in the Scottish city from August 3 to 13.

The coach, Gema Pascual, has summoned Mavi García, Ane Santesteban, Sandra Alonso, Sheyla Gutiérrez, Sara Martín and Mireia Benito to face the online race, on August 13 –last day of competition–.

The women’s elite race will start from Lake Comond and will have a distance of 154.1 kilometers with a final circuit through the streets of Glasgow, on which the last 90 kilometers will be played.

On August 10, Mireia Benito –Spanish champion– and Sara Martín will compete in the individual time trial, which will take place on a fairly flat 36.4-kilometre route around Stirling, with some hills.

The competition program for these World Championships will once again include the mixed team time trial, which will take place on August 8 and for which Mireia Benito, Sara Martín and Sandra Alonso will make up the women’s block.
