Mathieu leaves football after seriously injured

Sporting Portugal's central defender Jérémy Mathieu suffered a serious injury to his left knee on Wednesday during training, reason why at 36 he has announced that he hangs his boots, since he will not be able to play in the seven remaining games to conclude the Portuguese League.

The footballer has posted on his Facebook profile that “he hoped to finish the race differently.” He recalled the 19 years of professional soccer, which he lived “with passion and intensely”, after passing through five teams: Sochaux, Toulouse, Valencia, Barcelona and Sporting.

The Gallic central came to the Alvalade club in the summer of 2017, after leaving Barcelona, ​​and, despite his 36 years, he was always one of the undisputed starters behind “the lions” with the different coaches with whom coincided.
